Dr Azeem Ibrahim is the Director of Special Initiatives at the New Lines Institute for Strategy and Policy in Washington DC.

He obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge after which he completed fellowships at the universities of Oxford, Harvard and Yale.

Outside his academic career, Dr Ibrahim has been a reservist in the IV Battalion Parachute Regiment (UK’s elite airborne infantry reserve), a multi-award winning entrepreneur, has published hundreds of articles in diverse international publications, and runs a charitable foundation. Over the years he has met and advised numerous world leaders on policy development and was ranked as a Top 100 Global Thinker by the European Social Think Tank in 2010 and a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Dr Ibrahim made a number of trips to Myanmar and Bangladesh to carry out the research for this book. He has written and spoken extensively on the persecution of the Rohingya in recent years.
